Craig Warmington is an Associate Partner and Cloud Infrastructure Lead with UBDS. He is passionate about the exceptional service UBDS provides and is heavily invested in learning and development. He also enjoys flying his plane and a glass of whiskey, although not at the same time.
With over 20 years’ experience in executing strategic digital programmes and projects, Craig has managed budgets of £300 million, led transformation for 30,000 staff across an organisation, and managed teams of 80 staff members. He has deep knowledge of helping organisations implement a ‘fit-for-the-future’ digital model with the right underpinning processes, people and technology.
What is UBDS’ ethos?
We’re about helping clients achieve their expectations and outcomes, and that often means going the extra mile. We’re not the kind of organisation that relies on commercial change requests, and continually putting that hand out for more money. We know what the client wants, and we deliver what the client wants, no matter how challenging that is, and that is why we have such a fantastic track record for repeat business. And that success breeds success because we are purely and entirely aligned to the clients we serve.
Why did you choose to work as a UBDS Associate Partner?
A lot of what UBDS stands for and what it achieves is down to our Managing Director, Diptesh Patel – his high calibre – that’s why we’re all of a high calibre. We’ve all improved as a result of that relationship with him, his contacts, the exciting work, his generosity and willingness to invest in us, be it through training, social events, travel or whatever.
People talk about how Apple is built around Steve Jobs and Amazon was around Jeff Bezos, UBDS is built around Diptesh, and I really enjoy working with him and other UBDS colleagues. We are all different in our own way – age, gender, sexuality, religion, but we all strive to be successful, and we strive to achieve excellent outcomes.
What does UBDS stand for?
It’s “You Be Da Best” – that’s what it stands for. I absolutely believe in this motto right through to my core. It’s not about being good enough, it’s about being the best.
If you are ever in a luxury car, a Bentley or an Aston Martin, you can sense the quality in the attention to detail in every single thing. There are consequences to cutting corners, and that’s not UBDS.
What motivates you to do what you do?
What motivates me is the pride and joy of helping others achieve great outcomes. One of our clients spent two years trying to get a migration to work, we did a little pilot project in six weeks and then we migrated everything in 20 evenings. It took us three months back-to-back, and they were amazed!
What do you do on a day off?
One thing they say, if someone’s a pilot they always tell you they’re a pilot so, unfortunately, it’s a cliched answer. I love flying planes, it’s something I absolutely enjoy. The freedom of 3-dimensional travel is amazing, and I get to use it in my work as well.< Our People
